This month I am featuring Sweet Petal Bakery. I found her on etsy when looking for footballs, baseballs, basketballs and letters for my boys cake I made for their KSU joint birthday party. I will post pictures below. She does amazing work!
At the bottom you will find the giveaway item, rules to enter and deadline! Have fun friends.
Get to know a little about SWEET PETAL BAKERY!
Where are you from? Chino Hills, CA. It's about 1 hour from L.A., 35 minutes from Disneyland and 2 hours from San Diego
Married, single, kids? I'm married to my sweet husband Christoper and we have 2 great kids Elena (4 years old) and Marianna (3 years old)
What do you enjoy doing with your free time? Oooh, scanning through blogs like Oh Joy!, Mrs. Lilien- Styling House, Hostess With The Mostess, NotCot.org, and a bunch of food blogs, interior decorating blogs, fashion blogs... yeah. I spend too much time on my laptop.
Favorite color? Yellow ^_^
Favorite food? Japanese Ramen! Not the instant kind, the kind that's served in Japan; slow cooked and served fresh and hot. Also love potatoes, any kind; mashed, fried, baked, anything.
If you could throw a party for yourself, what would the theme be? I'd love a party with yellow and gray (with strips of aqua) as the colors with yellow dahlias, California poppies, flower succulents and billy button flowers on the tables. I know exactly where it would be too. In Palm Springs somewhere by a pool with big striped umbrellas, with Jonathan Adler pottery, constructed background panels with props where people take silly pictures in pretty Kate Spade frocks.
Which talent you wish you had, but you donĂ¢€™t? Umm.. woodworking? Carpentry? I'm in awe of people who can turn wood into chairs, tables or shelves. Also metal fabrication. Those skills would totally transform my dessert tables.
Who or what inspires you to be creative? Probably my Mom and sister. My Mom always told me I should use my gifts because they're what makes me unique and awesome. As for my sister, who is creative too, she is going to school in Scotland and living her dream as an architect. She really went for it, which inspired me to go for my dream too.
What thing or things do you enjoy shopping for at Michaels/Hobby Lobby or any craft store? Oh wow, I like going through the silk flower aisle during the change of the seasons to get ideas for flowers. I also take a bunch of flowers and sort of arrange them together to see if they'd look good on a cake. I also love shopping for various cake decorating tools. The industry is booming so there's a lot of new things coming out that are surprisingly affordable.
Tell me about your etsy shop/online store. How, why, when did you start your business? I started my business as a creative outlet at first. I had all these cake decorating tools that I just mindlessly collected while I worked at the local bakery. I thought I should put them to use. Turns out I really wanted to continue doing this as a business where I call the shots.
What do you love most about blogging, facebook, and/or having your own etsy shop? Oh I love meeting people and hearing about their parties and collaborating with them. People are so nice and supportive of each other, even if they're supposed to be in competition for business. In terms of my etsy shop, I really felt that Etsy gave me the right kind of exposure to keep doing my craft. If I had launched my own website I don't think it would have been as successful.
